If you want to understand why so many political leaders are continuing to do things that do not seem to fit in with their stated policies, you will want to listen to this teaching given on a Sunday evening back in June 2006, Globalism: Our Greatest Threat.

It traces where we are back to the Garden of Eden and the Building of the Tower of Babel, and it demonstrates from history how even the most benign leaders still have to deal with the lust for power.

Totalitarian governemt is nothing new, and the "enlightened" Greeks of the second century before Christ persecuted Jewish believers worse than any other tyrants in history, so much so that one of these Greek rulers is the ultimate type and foreshadowing of the Man of Sin. Totalitarian governments hate those who choose to be different, but God has always called his people to be separated from the world.

The building of the Tower of Babel was a continuation of the act of defiance begun in the Garden of Eden. It continues on throughout history in the attempts of rulers to create paradise on earth without God. The flow of history is sweeping us toward an ultimate manifestation of this attempt. A global economy demands global law, and global law demands a global government to enforce it. Religion must be pressed into this global mission, but biblical Christianity with its ultimate allegiance to God and its proclamation that no one can come to the Father but through Jesus Christ must expect to be viewed as an enemy of this emerging transnational state.
