Continuing our look at the interceding martyrs in heaven (Revelation 6:9-10), we considered how different their prayers in heaven are from when they prayed on earth (Acts 7:60).
We focused on the Lord Jesus' response as he stands at the right hand of the Father (Acts 7:55-56).
When his people suffer, the Lord Jesus suffers with them. The Apostle Paul understood that his own suffering was part of the suffering of the Lord Jesus Christ.
While in no way denying the sufficiency of the Lord's substitutionary, once-for-all death on the cross (Hebrews 9:24-27), the suffering of the Body of Christ is completing Christ's own suffering (Colossians 1:24).
That is why Paul cheerfully endured suffering: His suffering was a means God used to save his own elect (2 Timothy 2:10).
Now is the time to intercede for loved ones. Now is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).
