According to John 10:22, 23, the Lord Jesus visited the Temple during Hanukkah. Hanukkah looks back to the time of Jewish suffering under Greek rule and to the wonderful deliverance that God brought during one of Israel's darkest hours.
Hanukkah reminds us that the seeds of tyranny are in every government and every leader, no matter how noble and well intentioned they may appear to be at the outset.
Hanukkah also reminds us that God is sovereign and raises up leaders to defend his people.
