When Jesus says, "Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age," we are taken back to the birth of Christ, because his name would be Immanuel, God with us (Matthew 1:23).
Both Joseph and Mary name him Jesus, the same name was Joshua the son of Nun, "Yahweh is Salvation," because Yahweh would save his people from their sins (Matthew 1:21; Luke 1:31).
Jesus does not ascend to heaven right after the last verse of Matthew because this takes place in the Galilee (Matthew 28:10, 16). Whereas, his ascension to heaven took place near Bethany, just outside of Jerusalem, where a cloud received him (Acts 1:9-11).
Daniel 7:9-10 describes the Ancient of Days, God the Father; whereas, Daniel 7:13-14 foretells the Kingdom being given to the Son of Man. In Luke 22:66-71, Jesus reveals who he really is to the Jewish Sanhedrin: Israel's Messiah, the Son of God. But they reject him.
All three persons of the Godhead are involved in the conception of Jesus. The Father sends his Son, and the Holy Spirit creates the human nature of Jesus from the substance of the virgin Mary by an act of parthenogenesis, and the Son unites himself with that true human nature at the moment of conception (John 1:1-3, 14).
All three persons of the Godhead are present at Jesus' baptism: The Father speaks from heaven, the Spirit comes down, and the Son is baptized (Matthew 3:16-17; Mark 1:10-11; Luke 3:21-22; John 1:29-33).
And all three persons of the Godhead are at work at the end of Matthew: The Father has given the Holy Spirit in power to the God-Man, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God IN POWER (Matthew 28:18-19; Romans 1:4). And he sends out his army, the church. |
