1. Hebrews 13:10 (NKJV), "We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat." The believer has been given the right to eat from the altar of God-to benefit from the sacrifice of Christ-which thing the Law does not do for the sinner. The Law cannot and did not give a sinner the right/the access to salvation. And God preached this truth in that those who offered the sacrifices-on the Day of Atonement had no right to partake of the sacrifice that had been used to make atonement for sin. Rather, they had to burn it all outside the camp.
2. But the believer now has that right under the New Testament. They have that right in Christ and this is a very significant point in the difference between Law and grace. The inheritance of salvation is not of Law, but of promise (grace). ONLY grace allows the sinner to have the right to life.
3. So, the believer is urged by the Holy Spirit to not remain in the camp, but to go outside where Christ is. Christ was crucified outside the camp-outside of Jerusalem. And that also preached the separation and difference between Law and grace. The believer cannot remain or continue under Moses. It is popular teaching to want to keep blood bought believers under the Old Covenant. But the Holy Spirit says-no-GO Forth outside the Camp of the Law and behold Christ and His salvation and even suffer His reproaches.
4. We talked about indicatives and imperatives again-because the distinctions are important. The indicatives indicate the position of the believer before God on account of what Christ alone did. Salvation is conditioned on Christ alone.
