Good reading, sobering passage Thank you for reading this excerpt from classic Bunyan. It makes me ponder the mercy of God that Christ rescued me from such a fate - and commands me to spread the message to others that He might save them.
Great Sermon! Grace and duty something I think most christians give no thougth nor effort to. The Puritians are a great example of how we should pursue the process of santification.
Good Sermon This is one of the greatest mini sermons I have heard on the wrath of God. If only America will realize that God is going to dash them to pieces they would repent in a heartbeat. Same case with abortion
Utterly Terrifying! I am speechless in the face of these words and images depicting the final "unresting" place of the damned. I am terrified for my loved ones who continue to refuse Christ. This has made me even more determined to pray for them and to cry out to God for them! Today, there is almost no emphasis on what we have been saved FROM in the pulpits, and more often than not, a blurry vision of what we have been saved FOR!
Jesus said: And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Math 10:28
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Prov 9:10
How awful must the sin that crucified your Son be if hell is this terrifying?!
Thank you LORD for the continual covering that evails for all believers in the blood of Your Son Jesus Christ.
I am truly thankful!
So much said in so short devotional “Those that have no antipathy against sin are strangers to true repentance”, states Watson. Very relevant insight for our 21st century Christianity. Certainly, five minutes of a Puritan often says more than 5 hours of modern preaching! Thank you SA for posting such an exquisite and well presented briefing, packed with weighty depth and truth.
Great Sermon! I wrote this introduction to this audio in a Facebook group that I help moderate, "I hadn't heard of Samuel Milton Vernon, 1841-1920 - but leave it to my friend, Jeff, of Grace Audio Treasures (Grace Gems) to find another arrow to send into the conscience. The larger title of this article is called Amusements in the Light of Reason, History, and Revelation - I will link to this, but the audio he chose from the whole is 8 minutes, that he calls Satan's Chapel. Here is one line, "In 1778, when the American colonies, struggling for independence, felt their dependence upon God and their need of his aid, Congress passed a law providing for "the dismissal from office of any officer of the United States who should be found in attendance upon a theater." I have no judgment about this. I only listen to these things to be judged by them not to cry out "legalism," I just assume that I am the one that has declined. {I aired this today on our online radio station... www.wildernessradio.com }
